About Krystyna
Sixteen years ago, as she sat in the careers office for the 6th time that month, a 17-year-old Krystyna heard the word Naturopathy for the first time. She had been desperately trying to find a career direction that would stick. Hairdressing, teaching, dentistry accounting, none held her attention for long. But Naturopathy piqued her interest, plus the course was in NSW – a direct ticket out of her hometown Point Lonsdale. A few months later, she sat among peers in the course induction, listening to the course director explain that Naturopathy isn’t just a career but an entire lifestyle change.
Bullshit, teenage Krystyna thought sassily to herself. Fast forward to today, and she couldn’t agree with the director more.
“She was 100% right,” Kryssy said. “Naturopathy gives you so many life skills. It teaches you to dig deeper, looking for the why, instead of just settling for the status quo.”
Throughout her career in the field, Krystyna felt fuelled to continue asking why as she experimented with different specialised areas, searching for which one felt right. While focusing on gut and diet, she became interested in skin, and the difference diet can have on it. Sub-contracting in Belmont and utilising all the tools she had picked up along the way, Krystyna began seeing fantastic results with in-clinic skin presentations. Working predominantly with eczema, psoriasis, viral skin rashes and acne, she soon wanted to speed up results. This led her to begin investigating the outside in, and so began her passion project. She wanted to know everything there was to know about what we put on our skin, is it working with our skin or against it, and whether certain treatments and products were simply a band-aid to the problems deeper down.
After studying Advanced Skin Sciences and Corneotherapy, Kryssy spent time working in the spa industry, adding many skills to her repertoire, such as LED light treatment, skin needling, face massage, and facials. She discovered the corneotherapy-based skin care company Dermaviduals and received mentorship from iconic leaders in the field, all aligning effectively with Krystyna’s philosophies.
Eventually, the protocollary constrictions she faced working within the spa industry left Krystyna feeling as though her creativity was restricted. In 2020 she started taking her own patients online and through Remedy Lane, focusing on naturopathic aspects of skin health while cleaning up clients’ skincare and prescriptions.
As she continues to educate herself, working slowly toward a long-term goal of turning The Bright Side Holistic Skin Clinic into its own self-sustaining and independent business, Kryssy strives to expand her industry philosophies throughout the community. Painfully aware of the vast amount of misinformation within this highly lucrative industry, she aims to provide transparent, simple, science-based information to her clients. By keeping plans achievable and personable she hopes to see sustainable, long-term positive health outcomes.
“I provide my clients with flexibility and independence through education and freedom of choice,” Krystyna explained. “As opposed to strict meal plans and long-term supplementation, which set people up for perfection, often leading to failure.”
Outside of work, Krystyna is a self-described ‘crazy dog lady’. After a childhood filled with the care and love of animals, she began volunteering at Geelong Animal Rescue. At the home she shares with partner Chris, the couple often fosters dogs and cats in need of rehoming.
“At all times we have a minimum of 2 dogs, and a maximum of 4 in our home. Once, I even surprised Chris by bringing home 7 cats,” Krystyna laughed. “It’s important to help animals get the life that they deserve.”
Finding her reset by the beach and emerging herself in the water is a must. Her downregulation reached by the quietness she finds in reading a book a fortnight.
Together she and Chris share a love of food, travel, and their friends.
“We are so lucky to be part of an awesome community, we’re so fortunate to have such wonderful people in our lives.”
Feeling excited about the year ahead, Krystyna is looking forward to building her business, expanding her skincare community, and finding regular downtime in the van on weekend getaways with Chris.
